A world-renowned spiritual leader, Bagawans Muktananda, arrives in the Asian nation of Bandanesia to give a teaching to the faithful. Accompanying him is a retinue of monks and attendants, including his personal bodyguard, Deva (Celina Jade), a beautiful Eurasian girl with extraordinary physical prowess.
Welcoming Bagawans is security commander Chow (Simon Yam). As soon as Bagawans and his party reach their hotel, they are attacked by assassins from a rebel terrorist group.
Wounded, Bagawans needs to undergo a life-saving operation within 12 hours. However, his blood type is so rare that only a few donors can be found who can reach the capital in time to help. Rebel leader Lompoc obtains the same information, and has his agents kill off the donors one-by-one.
Deva gets information about a possible 7th donor in a remote village in the North, and she decides to brave the dangerous journey alone into the guerilla-held badlands. There, she finds the last possible donor whose blood can save Bagawans: a drunken, embittered former Special Forces operative named Mike Tremayne (Michael Biehn).
When they are attacked by rebel assassins, Tremayne is forced to take Deva seriously. This odd couple sets out on a dangerous journey across the countryside, using every means of transport they can locate to get to the capital before the 12 hour deadline expires.
As they run this deadly road, a bond develops between the soul-scarred former soldier and the lethally angelic Deva. The pair finally returns to the city and the hospital housing Bagawans.
The timely blood transfusion saves Bagawans' life, and Tremayne prepares to leave now that it appears the danger is over. Just as peace seems to be restored, the rebels stage a final assassination attempt on Bagawans in a surprise suicide attack on the hospital. The rebels crush the police and Deva finds herself fighting a desperate lone battle.
Just in the nick of time, Tremayne returns and saves Deva's life. Together they defeat their foes and Bagawans is safe at last.
Tremayne decides to assume the role of Bagawans' personal bodyguard, while Deva goes out to explore the world.
